Last updated September 2026
This policy explains how the NOVA Games Foundation uses the personal information you provide through this website. We have tried to write it in plain language. If anything here is unclear, write to us, and we will explain it.
Who we are
NOVA Games Foundation is a non-profit corporation incorporated in the State of Delaware, United States, and it supports graduating students and recent graduates of its partner universities. In this policy, “NOVA”, “we” and “us” mean that organization, and “you” means anyone using this website.
For people in the United Kingdom and the European Economic Area, NOVA is the data controller for the information described below. You can reach us at info@novagamesfoundation.org or by post at 494 Tuallitan Road, Los Angeles, CA 90049, United States.
What we collect
We only collect what you type into a form on this site. There are two of them:
- Sign-up list: If you sign up to be notified, we collect your email address and the date you provided it. We also record which page you signed up from so we know which parts of the site are working.
- Contact form: If you send us a message through the contact page, we collect your name, your email address, the category you chose, and whatever you wrote in the message.
What we do not collect
This site sets no tracking cookies, runs no invasive analytics, carries no advertising, and embeds nothing from another company that could watch you. We do not build a profile of you, we do not track you across other websites, and we make no automated decisions about you.
Like every web server, ours records basic technical details of a request (including an IP address) so it can deliver the page and defend itself against abuse. Those records are short-lived, and we do not use them to identify anyone.
Why we use it, and on what basis
We use your email address to tell you when NOVA Fellow Applications open and to send occasional news about the program - nothing else. Where UK or EU law applies, our basis is your consent, which you gave by submitting the form and can withdraw at any time.
We use the contents of a contact message to answer it. Where UK or EU law applies, our basis is our legitimate interest in replying to people who write to us.
We do not sell your information, rent it, or share it with anyone for marketing.
Who else sees it
Two companies handle this data because they run the machinery the site sits on:
- Vercel Inc. hosts the website and stores the sign-up list.
- Resend (Plus Five Five, Inc.) delivers contact messages to our inbox.
Both act strictly on our instructions and are bound by contracts that cover international transfers using standard contractual clauses. When NOVA moves its mailing list to an email delivery service, we will add that provider here before your address reaches it.
We will disclose information if the law requires it, if we need to protect someone’s safety, or if we have to defend a legal claim. We will not do it quietly if we are allowed to tell you.
Where it is held, and for how long
Our providers store data in the United States, so if you are writing from outside the US, your information will be transferred here.
We keep a sign-up until you unsubscribe or ask us to remove it, and we will clear addresses that have gone unused for three years. We keep a contact message for as long as we need it to deal with what you asked about, and no longer than three years after we last heard from you.
Your rights
Wherever you are, you can ask us what we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. Write to info@novagamesfoundation.org, and we will answer within thirty days.
- UK & EEA residents: You have the right to receive your data in a portable form, to object to or restrict how we use it, and to withdraw consent at any time. You also have the right to complain to your national data protection authority, though we hope you will talk to us first so we can put things right.
- California residents: You have the right to know what personal information we collect, to request its deletion, to correct inaccurate details, and not to be discriminated against for exercising your privacy rights. NOVA is a non-profit foundation and does not sell or share personal information as defined under California law.
Accessibility
We want this website to be usable and accessible for everyone, including people with disabilities. If you run into an accessibility barrier on our site, please let us know at info@novagamesfoundation.org so we can address it.
Children
This site is for people applying to or interested in a university-level program and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under sixteen. If you believe a child has given us their details, tell us, and we will delete them.
Security
The site is served over an encrypted connection, the sign-up list is held in access-controlled storage, and only NOVA staff who need the data can access it. No system is perfectly safe, but if something goes wrong and puts your rights or data at risk, we will notify you and the appropriate authority.
Changes to this policy
If we change how we handle personal information, we will update this page and change the date at the top. If a change is significant, we will email the people it affects directly.
